Danial Shockley, a US combat veteran, had just retired from the Navy while living in Hawaii when he was diagnosed with a rare form of gene mutation. He then had surgery to remove part of his large intestine and his entire colon. After his surgery, Shockley quickly became an advocate to help spread awareness about rare diseases and was able to represent the state of Idaho with a Governor’s proclamation for Rare Disease Day on February 28th and March Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month.
"My Vision is sharing my journey as a source of inspiration and encouragement. My Purpose is to educate the world about hereditary colon cancer syndromes and the importance of early detection."
